Iranian born tenor Sam Elmi began his music education with classical & flamenco guitar. After finishing medicine he studied singing with Dr. Lada Georgieva in Mashhad, and developed a passion for classical repertoire, particularly opera.

Since moving to Australia he has continued studying with Dr Jennifer Barnes while working as a general practice doctor based in Morpeth. His repertoire includes Verdi, Bizet, Puccini, Flotow, Music Theatre & Folk Song. His ambitions include singing Alfredo in La Traviata, Don Jose in Carmen, and all the great 19th Century operatic repertoire.

Sam feels privileged to be involved in Australian musical life and relishes living “in this beautiful country.”

Sam will perform in Love, Life & Opera III, and Gilbert & Sullivan Trial by Jury, 5 – 8 December 2018 at Newcastle Theatre Company. Learn more >
